Do I need to install Microsoft .Net Framework???j

I always see Microsoft .Net Framework in the list of Optional Software when I update my pc.

I see that there is 2 versions of the .Net Framework, 1.1 and 2.0.

What are they for and why would I want to install them? My system seems to do everything I want without it installed, just didnt know what it was.

If everything you need runs fine, then there's no reason you need to install them. However, some specific programs require that they be installed, so you may eventually need to install them to run certain things.

They're like the runtime DLLs from the past. Some things like Paint.net use them, some programs use 1.1 and some use 2.0.
