Do I need both a PCI Adaptor AND a wireless router, to do wireless?

I'm running windows xp 64bit and am going to go wireless. Do I need to get a router, or a PCI adaptor card, or both? Thanks for the clarification.

You need a wireless router and a wireless card.....unless your on a laptop that has a card already

Actually not necessarily. If your machine if your only PC then you could use a dedicated Ap instead of a router. However you gave such little information about your environment any suggestion is merely a guess.
