• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

http://desstats.daychanged.com is a one month project by a group of students at Åbo Akademi University, www.abo.fi, in Finland to support a Cryptograpy and Network Security course we are taking. We are attempting a brute force search of the DES 56-bit keyspace.
To participate in the project, download the client from the project page, and follow the instructions for using it. The client is available for Windows, Linux, Mac OSX and Solaris.

We REALLY need more cpu power so if you have any spare cpu cycles, please join us!
The project is also listed at http://www.aspenleaf.com/distributed/ap-crypto.html#des

It's not like we're doing this just because we doesn't have anything else to do.
We have coded our own des implementation, keyserver and clients for various platforms and we are still developing and porting them. This project is a part of a University course and the point is that we learn how to code this type of software and learn about cryptography and there is no better way of learning than by doing. And we have alot of fun doing it. And we get bonus points in the final exam if we succeed =)
And yes, I know des has been broken several times but try doing it yourself and see how easy it is... or join us =)
