Well I have had my Sennheiser HD-212 Pros for a while now (about 6 months maybe?) and just lately they started distorting on some songs, mostly rap songs with bass and such. My usual setup is plugging them into my Logitech Z-680's reciever headphone out plug. So to find out if it was the reciever i plugged my headphones directly into my sound card. Now it sounds like they arent distorting anymore. Anyone know why this would be? Maybe my Z-680's reciever is breaking? Any ideas? thank you in advance

edit: by the way, I am using a audigy 2 zs for my soundcard
 
In general, avoid the using the headphone out of a speaker receiver. It can often distort sound, which is what has probably happening in this case. Keep the sound clean, get it straight from the Audigy.
