i have my tv hooked up to my pc through my radeon 9600's svideo-out port. i run that through an svideo to rca adapter and run that to my tv. it was working fine, then i plug it in again and now i have lines that run across vertically. what can affect this? what settings should i mess with?

Try changing your resolution, video mode (PAL is better, if your tv supports it), and generally everything under the displays->tv - settings.

And beg/steal/borrow a tv with s-video support :D

Well, that's odd. I can't check right now[1] , but pal/ntsc should be in the tv settings in the displays page under advanced settings.
(I'm working from half-old memories here).
