ok so i boned up on psus for the last week or two .. (thanks jonnyguru) and now i'm ingesting plenty of display lingo, odds and ins...

i went to best buy today just to look at displays and one thing struck me more than anything else ..

some of the monitors .. one from NEC and one from SONY seemed to have no antiglare treatment .. the monitor looked almost wet compared to the others...

of coarse they had fancy names for it like NEC was called Xbrite i think..

Qustion is: is it that they just don't apply any antiglare or is it really somethign special..
what's the [H]ard take on antiglareless monitors?
and finally the question that i'll be seeking for some weeks to come and finally found an answer to within the psu category... what is the biggest bang for your buck in lcd displays.. or CRTs for that matter.. i have tons of space so if CRTs is still where the best bang for you're buck is then i'll stick with a CRT .. no problem...

thanks in advance

For CRTs, you could try to find a Sony CPD-G520 off of ebay. I got mine for $150 shipped. Best picture I've seen so far.

what will you be doing?
If display speed (gaming) and color calibration (photo work, photoshop) are your primary concerns, then CRT, no matter what.

If you just want to save space, want perfect geometry, and just want to do general "stuff", then LCD

hopefully SED will actually come to market in 2008 in pc monitors and this will all become a moot point.

ok please refrain from acronyms lol

what is SED

any recommendations as far as bang for you buck in the crt world

i game for sure and actually geting into photoshop/webdev too

i want something that just as good as the top of the line but maybe doens't have the name brand to make it expensive ...

just google for SED, its much easier than me explaining it. Essentially its a crt with the benefits of lcd, although its kind of unknown if it will actually appear or not as its been pushed back in the tv market till late 2007. we shall see.

as for crts, I dont know, I havent had occasion to shop for one recently so I havent checked. :( maybe someone will chime in with good current recommendations.
