Hello, i bought a Vx2025wm and i´m wondering if rising contrast from 50 to 75 will hurt the display Long life ?

Also i would like to know a few tips to calibrate the monitor... the most important settings are brightness and contrast.. i don´t care about color calibration because i feel they are ok.. i´m just not that sure about contrast and brightness.

Thanks

The higher you raise the overall brightness, the quicker the lamp will lose its max brightness. I doubt however that it'll be dramatically dimmer even set to max during a normal use period (say 4-5 years)

If you are trying to keep a display around for a decade or more, baby it. If you plan on recurring upgrades over a shorter time, go ahead and blast it on torch mode.

I´m not talking about brightness... i meant contrast... is still the same? i´m leaving brightness at default... enough brightness already... i just feel it need a bit more contrast.. so i rise it to 65...

on the other hand... the jump from 50 to 65 don´t seems too high... i don´t think it will affect that much compared to having the settings at 50... and the picture quality improve a lot... imo.

.. but again i may be wrong.. so i want to hear more opinions.

I'll put it more succinctly: Set it to what looks best and stop worrying, you aren't going to damage it by raising the contrast. By the time it would make any difference, you'll probably have a new display.
