Display brightness

I need a new monitor, but I need one with the ability to adjust to near zero brightness where the backlight is almost completely off. The samsung I have now even on its lowest brightness setting is too bright at times.

I'm not looking to use any software solutions to adjust brightness.

Does anyone know of any monitors that have the capability to basically almost turn the backlight completely off?

Gateway 22" from a few years back could - if you turn the brightness all the way down you can just barely make out smudges moving around (2007 model I believe) - might want to investigate their newer ones, could have the same capabilities - otherwise I'll get you the model of the Gateway I used then (still have it) so you can hunt one down if you don't find other options (may wanna PM me in that case, in case I don't check on the thread).
