diskless GPU folding cd possible?

Would it be possible to make a diskless automatic client for the GPU client, like what we have now for the CPU but instead it would load everything needed to get the video card up and running and start folding? maybe it could be done with a live cd like bartPE?

I know it could be done but could it easily be done? and is it something we might see at some point in the future?
 
Since the GPU client doesn't exist for Linux and there is no such thing as free Windows OS, it's not possible at all.

To build a BartPE CD, it's required to provide the OS CD yourself since it's forbidden to distribute BartPE pre-installed.

 
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. ATM I know there's no free Windose type OS out there (like Linux) and unless you live in a 3rd world type country you'll wind up paying retail for a Windows copy. I'm also aware ATM that there's no "pure" GPU2 client for Linux and that the GPU2 client is proprietary to the Windows OS. :(

The interesting question, at least to me and several other DC computer affectionaros, is would it be possible to have a diskless GPU folding CD using the process that allows you to use the GPU2 client under Linux ? The one by Shellnut2 and company that uses the Wine program and Linux GPU driver to fold under Linux with the GPU2 client. :confused:

I'm pretty sure if it's at all possible (which I feel it is) there's some computer programing guru out there figuring it out. Does anyone know if the author of the notfred CD is even thinking in this direction :)

you could always use a thumb drive... and boot real XP... i would run the GPU application from a server via a network share to minimize writes to your flash drive
