I have 16 drives, WD Green (I know, I know, they are terrible and not recommended for RAID) attached to a 16 port Areca RAID controller, it gives me SMART info about each drive, but I don't really know what the numbers mean. I am attaching a pic of one drive, obviously the media retry error is bad but its the only drive out of 16 that has a value greater then 0. What do the other numbers mean?

Limit/Threshold(Current)

It's not that they are "terrible for RAID", it's that they don't support TLER, which is essential in most RAID situations.

Although, your mileage may very. I had no problems on a Dell PERC5 hardware card. And I do not think it is even a concern on software raid like ZFS. Some people experience it, but vast majority do not.
 
My mileage has been great, I had these drives on two Dell Perc 5's and now this Areca, no issues, just want to know what the numbers mean.
