My friend is looking to buy a voice recorder to record their professors lectures. Another feature they would like is the ability to hook the voice recorder up to their computer and use some speech recognition software to convert the voice recordings to text. Just wondering if anyone here knows about these or actually does this.
 
I have heard of these and tried one. I got one to see if it really output some text on my computer. It didn't work very well....didn't work at all really. It was one of the more expensive ones too, so I wouldn't trust others much more. For recording it worked alright, but I wouldn't have it at the back of a large classroom.
