difference between processors

If they are both C chips, the 2.4c would have higher fsb than the stcok 2.8c chip. Thus, it would be faster.

But the multiplier on the 2.8 is higher so wouldn't it even it out?

Other than the fsb and the mulitplier, aren't they like exactly the same?

the CLOCK speed would be the same.

However, since the 2.4C oc would have a higher FSB, there would be an overall performance GAIN because of the higher bandwidth.

Higher mulitpler makes no difference. It's the fsb that counts for the same speed chips.

so then if the 2.4 was faster then the 2.8, why wouldn't everyone just buy a 2.4 and then overclock it?

Because the 2.8 is only 25$ more expensive, and it overclocks easilly to 3.2ghz which would outperform a 3.2 stock chip (120$ more).

Also, the general public hesitates somewhat to overclock their processors, and hardware enthusiasts realize that getting a 2.8 and overclocking it from there is a much better buy than the 2.4

so having the fsb high makes it faster, but having it to high is bad because it will overheat and the computer will crash and stuff?

not exactly, the higher the FSB the greater the performance
if its "too high" then nothing will really happen...BUT if you have inadequate cooling, then thats a bad thing
w/o good cooling ur stuff is gonna fry and ur gonna cry (that ryhmed! :D)
