hey guys, can anybody explain to me the difference ebwteen eide and serial ata? cause im planning on getting a new internal hd. and i really dont know if the internal that i got is either ata or eide.

ideally youd just read this series
http://www.lostcircuits.com/hdd/hdd2/

and then
http://www.lostcircuits.com/advice/atafaq/
http://www.lostcircuits.com/advice/sata150/
http://www.ata-atapi.com/sata.htm

performance and reliability wise they are pretty much the same currently
one has an upgrade path however, the other is destined to be a legacy device

in SATA your able to get a higher spindle speed that would actually be better performance
(10,000 rpm Raptors)

BTW IDE ATA (PATA) EIDE all the same thing

For the most part, people use the terms interchangably (hell... most ppl I know still refer to everything as IDE drives) which isn't quite correct. Fortunately, since the HDD interface is going to be backwards compatable with older controllers, there's no reason for manufacturers to put out drives with old interfaces so pretty much everything on the market is ATA/100 or ATA/133 - just double check when you make the purchase.
