I sold my razer card and razer headsets on ebay got stick of razer taking there time for new drivers as well as using velbac because of some hassles plus I got tired of the slow bass in the rear drivers.

After I grab a Auzentech XFI I was gonna grab a pair of Audio-Technica . I was wondering is there major sound quality diffents between
the ATH700 and the 900 . And is it big enough for me to try to get a ATH900 over the ath700.

Because I know I'll beable to grab the ATH700.

For some reason, I thought it was difficult to read/follow what you were saying.

But I think I can condense it to this:
Razer stinks and I want an Audio Technica headphone, is the 700 close enough to the 900?

And the answer is.... get the 900.

Just make sure you don't end up getting the wrong kind.
ATH-AD900 is Open ahem..
ATH-A900 is closed.

Get OPEN unless you need isolation and need that extra thump.

...

I thought A900 was closed, what has the world come to?! It's like L'm being buried alive by building rubble.

The thing is i might nto beable to afford the ATH 900 i was hopping some one tell me how much of a diffent. instead of just get the ath 900.

Honestly, AD700s are really good for the price.
About everyone that owns them say they sound great.
It's just that the AD900s sound just a bit better.

You can always sell the ath-a700s later, over at www.head-fi.org

or maybe if you would buy a pair of used cans people sell theirs constantly.. so check it out.. they often sell stuff in perfect shape for good prices.

Anyone able to comment on how comfortable the A(D)700/900 are after extended usage? I'm currently using Grado SR60s and find that my ears start to hurt after 4+ hours of usage.

The AD headphones have velour pads-it's like wearing two soft, fluffy pillows on your head.

jjust ordred me a pair of ATHD-700 some hrs ago. cant wait for them to get here. Now I need the predule and i all set.

I dont know buy I love mine. The opens have lower impedence i believe, but don't take my word, double check.

Is open really that much better?

In some ways yes, but closed are better in their own ways too.

Open style headphones provide more of a natural feel/sound to the music. However, the down side is THEY ARE OPEN. Some people, like myself, find the sound isolation that you get from some(not all) closed headphones too irresistible. It is personal preference.

So, why buy open, when you can buy an open and a closed :D. win-win situation, minus the double price tag.

open is a lot better if you can't afford to be completely cut off..

good closed cans have enough attenuation that someone could easily sneak up on you if hearing is your only way of detecting them.

if you want good open cans id say go for something like grado sr60s or 80s..
and for closed cans go for the 700s

the only reason to get 900s over 700s if you play your music very loud, or you have a complex.. or you want to blow a lot of money on a little difference.

The differences between 700 and 900 aren't a lot. 500 and 700 however are significant.. if you are buying new you can get ath-a700s for about 119.. 900s are around 179 IIRC.
