I thought about putting this under the dead hardware section, but thought it had a bit of a story of it's own :D

Wife sent me a txt: "I just heard a gun shot"

Well we live in the county and it is not that big of a deal. I give her a call and she says the noise was close and wouldn't bother me with something that some guy shooting a ground hog or something. She then tells me the power is out and asks: when a transformer goes out does it make a sound like a gun going off?

I responded yes.

She tells me the computers are beeping like crazy down stairs (that would be all the UPS systems screaming that the power is out)

The power was out for about 30 min, much longer than a 1500VA UPS can keep a SR-2 running. I've restarted all the systems in the house and they all resumed their checkpoints. Even the 6903 at 92% (yay!)

So here I am wondering.... Did I kill the transformer for my house (and the next 2 next to me?) My farm couldn't of helped....

See!? This is what happens when [H] ramps... It was only a matter of time. I think we need to start thinking of water cooling setups for our transformers around town. :D
 
Transformers can fail at any time, it isn't necessarily because of your farm.
 
probably everyone's AC kicking in at once... unless you have a GIANT GPU farm or something :p

That is the perverse thing about quad CPU folding rigs. The fruit of a quad 12 core magny is so frickin sweet(I still can't believe the ppd averages you guys are getting), but the cost of entry is so frickin harsh. Once we see final production examples of those Interlagos 16 core ES' going on sale on Fleabay, i'm really going to have to pay attention to see if I can get into the multiple processor bandwagon at a discount.
 
My birthday is next month and all I ask for is to have Interlagos released. Is that asking for too much?

If it were to be released, what did you have in mind for the 16 core chips? :)

The sad thing is that it looks like even the desktop BD's are getting pushed back to Q3 of this year.

No. If you were drawing too much power, you would have tripped your main breaker or blown one of the main fuses in the line going to your house.

When Kendrak blew the power the image of the PSE transformer on fire was all I could think of hehe

Nice I'm in Edmonds myself. My PPD is currently sagging due to a PSU issue I just resolved but I should be head to head with you in a week or two. We can battle for northwest supremacy on the Top 20 charts. :D

Just cant get behind the idea that the whole point of the thread isn't a diagnostic of my electrical service, but a clever (I thought at least) 'lil story that was obviously embellished can you?

My farm is so big, hang gliders use the thermal currents above my house for lift.
 
Didn't we have one of these threads somewhere? Either way, keep it up as it really does provide some nice humor. I'm actually pretty impressed at how little trouble you guys with big farms have gotten into with your SWMBO's.
