Hey everyone,
I've got a bizarre problem here, and I suspect it's PEBKAC, so I need a bit of help. The summary: DHCP works, static IP does not!
With a static IP address, my computer can access the router configuration page, but that's about it (sounds like default gateway issue). I can "occasionally" get some content off the internet, but by and large, most HTTP requests fail. I think the ones that succeed may actually be from the browser cache. I can't even access my cable modem HTTP setup page (192.168.100.1) with a static IP configured.
Setup: One machine, Vista 64 + SP1 final through Windows update, Linksys WRT54GL router, attached via a CAT5 cable. Note that I've tried a couple different addresses, and my machine is the only one on the network. Just for grins, I assigned it the same address I received from DHCP, but that didn't work either. Go figure. I'm concerned this may be an SP1 issue, since it started right about when I got that installed.
I suspect a default gateway misconfiguration of some kind. Another odd thing is that when I switch from DHCP to static, type in the address/mask/gateway, click OK a couple times, there's no default gateway assigned. When I go back to the TCP/IP v4 properties, the gateway is blank. ipconfig /all reports no gateway, similarly. If I _then_ type in the gateway, click OK a couple times, it "sticks." This is obviously screwed up, and suggests a misconfiguration somewhere, e.g. some registry nonsense?
Here's my ipconfig /all setup with a static IP that does not work properly.
Any ideas?

Here's the same ipconfig /all for the main network adapter when configured as DHCP. This setup works fine, as I'm using it to post now!
