Jumped on the bandwagon and built an SG01 Evo...

4200+
7800GT
2GM Corsair XMS DDR 400
150GB Raptor
Thermaltake Purepower 460W PSU


all on an ASUS A8N-VM CSM mobo. Everything works great, but there's this one unknown device in Device Manager, listed as PCI Device. Tried all the driver CDs I've got, don't know what the crap it is. Doesn't really affect anything, but I don't like seeing unknown devices. Anyone else with same mobo know what I'm talking about? The only PCI device I have is a soundcard, that's not it.
 
screenshot that sucker and let us look at it. It is probably nothing....can you see the properties on it? Screeny that too if you can.

This should probably be in the motherboad forums by the way.

I had one heck of a time with making it look nice. The PSU is the culprit...has so many connectors...stuffed most of them in the second optical bay, but once that was full had nowhere else for them to go and look nice. Way better than it was though.

You can see the HSF I got is like a mini Big Typhoon, didn't go with the Zalman 7000. Have a good 19mm gap between the PSU and top of HSF, 59mm is the height I think. (Thermaltake CL-P0200)

I want to replace all 3 80mm fans with something really quiet at max speeds...maybe I'll order those today. Other than that, I'm real happy with it.
 
Very simple fix. Install the AIBooster software that came on the CD with the mobo. :p

This is something that asus did to get me flustered too.

If you don't install their program, that'll stay there. It doesn't really affect anything, so it's unessential.

But just to make sure that it isn't something else, install the prog anyways. If that doesn't fix it (after you restart), then we'll need to troubleshoot somethin else out :p
 
Hrm, just checked and my CD doesn't have AiBooster. I'll see if I can download it. Will give the unknown device identifier program a try too, thanks for that one.
 
It's the onboard audio. Since you have an audio card, just disable it in the bios and the mystery PCI will go away.

Well at least that's what it was for me.

AI booster driver? Unless it was imbedded in my chipset drivers, I didn't install anything specifically called AI booster. I did Nvidia chipset, and AMD cpu driver.
 
Whelp, I guess that solves the mystry of the unknown PCI device. Yes it was the onboard audio. Wish I would have thought of that a week ago :)
