I'm finding myself having performance issues too often. Yeah, that's what she said. But I'm talking about my desktop. If I have too many browser windows/tabs open, or I open a big daz studio scene, etc., I find myself getting slowdowns, stuttering audio, etc. I'd like the gallery's opinion on where my upgrade dollar will be best-spent. My instinct is to grab some more RAM; maybe two 8gb sticks to get me up to 32gb. But if one of you guys happens to think/know "oh that mobo is bug-prone" or "oh try this mobo driver it'll help" or "yah you're under-CPU-ed," then I'm all ears.

Thanks in advance.

P.S., in case anyone remembers, which I doubt, I'm no longer broke/a total cheapskate. If I have to spend a few hunnet to get 'er done I will, and I'll be happy to do it, if it solves the issue.

Well, if we're speaking in metaphors, it sounds like you have too many holes getting stuffed... ;)

But seriously, first check that your mobo BIOS and device drivers are all up to date. Then you can try unplugging all those USB devices/peripherals and see if the stuttering audio and slowdown is alleviated with just a simple keyboard/mouse/monitor configuration.

That may fix your problem. But your system might need more RAM if you're opening 20+ tabs at once. Try opening the Performance tab in Task Manager to check if your system memory usage is hitting 90-100% regularly.

I dont see SSD listed in here, so my advice would be , buy an SSD! It will fix most of stutter related issues.

Yes sad if you can go nvme for you boot drive. The phision e12 drives a a good cost to performance upgrade, like the inland drives at Microcenter. The next step might be to see if you can get your ram up to 2400 maybe small oc. If you haven't looked you might get a bump with tweaking windows too.
