Stopped by wal-mart.. and i couldnt find any 98% isopropyl alcohol as it was suggested to clean my heatsink with. so i came home and realized i have some denatured alcohol in my garage, is this ok to use on a heatsink and processor?
 
paint thinner, nail polish remover, spit, water, dry cloth (watch for static), acetone, laquer thinner, it all should work.

safe, well as far as i know the towel and spit sound iffy to me but the rest i would feel comfortable useing (have used).
 
I use denatured alcohol. I either use 91%-98% Isopropyl or it. Both are safe to use and work great.
 
Many solvents and household cleaners are good for heatsinks. Even the stuff that cleans jewelry and silverware. It will remove build-up and oxidization, especially on copper sinks.

If you want strong isopropyl, check with your pharmacist.
