At my workplace we are trying to come up with a solid game plan to demo VMware/Dell Storage/Liquidware Labs products.

Specifically we want to be able to have customers access a 'Lab' environment. I came up witha thought of using vCloud Director to provision such enviornments on the fly and spin up vApps for the products we want to demo, such as vSphere with some nested ESXi hosts, View, SRM etc.

We would use View Desktops that would have the functionality to access these environments and let the customer learn more about the products even getting into some more advance functionality. Of course we also want them to be able to learn more about Cisco Nexus 1000v, the Liquidware labs suite of products as well as the Dell EqualLogic and Compellent SAN Management interfaces and vSphere integration.

I wanted to see if anyone was doing something similiar? We have a fairly nice Lab environment to bring customers in, however we are dealing with more and more customers at further distances where we can leverage an environment like this.

I'm going to be mapping this out this week and do some testing to see if it's feasable...hopefully we can create vApps within vCloud Director to accomplish this.

We'll also have demo scripts created for showing off key functionality..etc to assist the customer in getting the most out of it.

Yeah, it's all very doable. Our internal "lab" is built off vCD and has a massive catalog of vApps for SE's to spin up at customer sites and do demos on the fly. Still not 100% certain about running SRM vApps without some sort of VSA but I'm on the novice side of vCD.

I'm still wrapping my head around the vCD architecture/constructs so I can't help with the nitty gritty stuff. Definitely behind the power curve on this one.
