In addition to their XPS gaming rig, Dell also bumped the specs on their 30-inch widescreen 3007WFP LCD today. The Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC now covers 92% of the NTSC color space for "richer, more dynamic colors" via a Wide Cold-Cathode Fluorescent Lighting (W-CCFL) backlight. It still features that same, sweet 2560x1600 (WQXGA) resolution we can't live without while shaving the response down from 14 to 8-ms. Available sometime later this year for $1,699 -- yeah, that's right around $400 more than the 3007WFP.

So they bump it to the HP specs....expect Apple to follow within the month.

Wonder if they will have two versions, or will drop the other.

oh my, no wonder they lower the price.... if the new one come with more input ports I will be very disappointed with my 3007 which will be delivered tomorrow :(

Your late. Its already mentioned in the 30incher release date thread.
I wonder what panel they are going to use though.

i'd imagine it will be the updated 30" S-IPS panel from LG.Philips, the LM300WQ1 with 8ms G2G response time. will have to wait and see though :)

LOL. Called this awhile back :)

Sounds like they will use the same LG panel that HP will. Although the rumors were that they switching to a PVA panel. With the 92% color gamut it sounds like it will be the IPS panel since the LM300WQ1 is the only one with those specs.

And Stalker, you are going to hate me for this but LG looks like they have another 30" panel. The LM300WQ3. All the pages that list it have the same specs as the LM300WQ1 though.

20% off E&A is what I'll be hunting for in January

Explain the significance of the new LG a bit more please?

No mention of additional ports, which doesn't necessarily mean that it won't have any but usually they like to brag about stuff like that. The wider color gamut will be nice for photo editing, but doesn't the pricing put it in direct competition with HP's offering with the same panel but more inputs?

Do you guys think the 400 dollar price hike is really worth it? Being able to pick up the current 30 inch with my discount at work I cant get one for about 1100 bucks.

I'm guessing that question is going to become very common here. It appears Dell will continue to sell both versions of the 3007wfp so with the big price dif its only natural for people to question its worth.

There isn't going to be a single answer for everyone. Depends on what you want to do with it and your tolerances.

Someone could call them self a gamer but have the worst vision ever and never know it. For he/she that cheap quixin 30" that never made it to the states could make them very happy.
Then again you could be a gamer and have very good attention to detail, very good vision, everything thats required to tell the differences between the new and old panel so in that case none of the 30" displays might be good enough for you.
There are some people who could see noticeable differences between the 16ms response time of the 3007 and whatever the 2407 has.

Soooo what do you want to do with it? Browse email and impress the neighbor? Then get the cheapest one you can find. Use to some ultra fast 6ms 20" display? I wouldn't buy anything until you actually sat infront of one and demo'ed it and made sure it was ok. Actually that should be a guide for anyone...

You bet your aunt martha its a direct competitor to the hp!!
But you brought up a interesting point........

Will Dell's new updated 3007wfp have at the very least an extra dvi input like the hp??

And to be usefull it will need to do input scaling as well to hook up to game consoles or Blu Ray players.

No, I'd probably end up getting one of the current ones if they drop down to $1000 after coupon, but I bet they'll be hard to come by soon.
