Dell Monitors from BenQ??

I've been hearing a load of good things about the Dell LCD monitors for a while now. But recently I've also been hearing a lot about BenQ(have also seen some in person and was quite impressed). It wasn't until today, while talking with a Dell tech that I noticed on the back of this 2001FP that it says "BenQ Corporation". Makes me wonder why anyone would bother paying Dell prices for the monitors when you can get an actual BenQ 19" for just over $100 after rebates.

Just thought I'd share that information with anyone who didn't already know.

It doesn't look like this is the case with every monitor, only certain models. I haven't seen anything official on the net, I just know that this one particular model has the BenQ Corp. name on the back of it, and apparently there are other models as well.

Loads of flatscreens right now are rebadged, even from highly respected companies like sony, and LG. Research it a bit, you'd be surprised who's rebadging who.

This kind of thing is done all the time. I know dell and HP use some samsung ones as well

Yes, it is not like Dell makes their own LCD"s

Dell is know for using LG for a long time and Samsung panels, since they actually DO manufacteur them.

I know that very few companies actually make the lcd panels themselves and all of companies selling monitors buy from this same available pool...I also know that some of them contract outside manufacturing for the electroincs/casing but it seems strange that a competitor would leave their name on a contracted monitor even if they are "working together" to some degree..
