Anyone considering buying one of these from dell should think twice.

I ordered mine on 5/10/09 and it has been delayed once to 5/22/09 and now a second time to 6/1/09. I expect it to get delayed even further. After reading around here about other people's experience with ordering one of these from dell it appears that this kind of thing was common. Last record I could find of someone's 3008wfp getting delayed was around august of last year. I assumed that they were no longer in back order since then. I guess I was wrong.

I ordered it refurbished as well, which would imply that the item is actually in stock, right?

If your UK or Euro based... Take a trip to www.pcbuyit.co.uk

It's where I picked up my Dell 3007, and it's where I'll buy my next monitor from...

Why? 3 year dead pixel warentee! (one defective pixel anytime within 3 years and they'll swap it out next day...)

I did not know Dell was selling 3008 refurbs yet...

Looking, they show a bunch in stock at delloutlet.com. You might give them a ring and talk to someone about that. Plenty of them there.

An item listed as refurbished doesn't automatically guarantee that it's in stock. I'm not sure why you'd think refurb = in stock.

My first 3008 purchase was a refurb. Upon delivery, I found lots of stuck/bad pixels and requested a replacement. After a few weeks, Dell couldn't locate another refurb 3008 in stock so they sent a brand new one. :D

But like Kyle brought up, why bother claiming you have them in stock and for sale on your website, as Dell does?

Actually Delloutlet.com shows what refurbs are in stock.

Well, to my suprise it arrived today. The original arrival date was the 22nd, Friday and it got here two days earlier then that, even though it still says on the website that it is expected to arrive on the 1st.

The kicker to all of this though, is that they still have not billed me.

I do have one problem though. I am pretty sure both the dvi cables I received are DVI-D Single link and not dual link because they are missing those extra pins in the middle. The strange thing is, I can run at 2560x1600 and I am right now.

But, its not displaying correctly. Its very hard to explain, but I am going to try to anyways. Text is not detailed at all and I am having trouble even typing this while sitting less then a foot away from the screen. Color seems very off, especially with very small objects. It does this at all resolutions as well.

Here are some pictures to demonstrate what I am talking about, although they may be somewhat hard to see.

I can assure you the detail is lost in the display and not the camera.

Edit: You can start to see this problem at 1920x1200 and above. I guess the problem is the DVI-D single link and some type of scaling going on. Oh well, off to best buy.

Yep, that's what 2560x1600 looks like with single link cable - "Every other pixel missing"
(Well, not literaly, but almost looks like that)

When I was reading that single link cannot display 2560x1600 I took that literally. But yea, just plugged in the dual link, and it looks beautiful.

Maybe Dell will continue with the order and send me a second one and charge me for that. ;)
Kind of shocked that their website hasn't updated in any way regarding sending me this.

Congrats on your 3008. It's a fantastic monitor.

Back to your refurb = in stock issue... I didn't know Dell now actually listed whether their refurbs were in stock. They didn't do that when I bought my first 3008.

Don't be shocked if /that/ happens. I've only known a couple people that ordered high-end Dell monitors and one of them ended up getting a free one out of the whole thing. If it happens with your 3008 though, can I buy the extra one 75% off? ;)
