ok here we go dell 3007 vs http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6998396&type=product&id=1110265591303

i am definately going to buy that westinghouse when it comes out, this guy i know owns one and he is playing with a 7900 gtx and he says its great. Why is the dell 3007 cost more $ then this when this is 2 inches bigger and cost 1100 $ less? Also this has 1800p and all of that other hdtv stuff also its resolution is 1366 x 768. So that means that you can turn all of the eye cand on, so is this suppoesedly better then the 3007 or something? Why is everybody buying the dell if this is cheaper and bigger?

The monitor you linked does not do 1080p. It does 1080i and it's down-scaled at that.

so... its also a kickass monitor i heard
The 3007+ has more then 4 times the as much resolution, that westinghouse doesnt even compair to it.

No offense to headshotboom, but something tells me he isn't very bent on tech specs; therefore wouldn't care as much with high resolution vs physical dimensions.

actually no offense taken, why is the resolution so bad? Is the dell 3007 just better because of its resolution, somebody please help with a quick rundown about all of the resolutions, thanx

Yeah, we've had this argument many times before. My view is that the Dell makes for a much better PC monitor due to the massive resolution, but the Westy is much better for gaming and movies. You pay your money, you takes your choice.

Resolution is what's important for a monitor, not size. The TV may be larger but it is conveying less information. It's like comparing the Westy with a 40 inch standard def TV.

As an example, which of these images is better:

Big with less info:

Small with more info:

The TV says it works at 1080i. First off, the "i" means it's interlaced, so at each refresh you are only getting half the image (even second line). Secondly, it hasn't got the resolution to actually display 1080i, so it must be downscaling it.

I dont know why people are so up on westinghouse, I've looked at them in stores and they look like cheap crap. I guess its the same reason people buy dell monitors and return 4 and 5 in a row to get one they can stand..

not at all... all the westies on display are being used and beat on. They actually make some of the nicer mid-priced LCD TV's.
