Ok yesterday i recieved my Dell 24" 2405, and the whole time i was deciding, and then waiting for it i was constantly looking for pictures, up-close ones, what exactly comes in the box, etc. so i have decided to make a mini-review. i know there are alot of 2405 threads already and some are sick of it, but its the hottest monitor right now and everyones gonna have to deal with it
Ok as soon as i opened the box i saw a huge setup sheet, which i quickly threw to the side and started digging deeper

I took off the top layer of foam revealing the base, the base was alot heavier and bigger than i thought it was going to be.

i took that out and removed the next layer of foam, and there it was, the most brilliant screen ever

i picked it up and fliped it over. It came with the usual plastic cover piece with 4 peices of tape, i ripped them suckers off and picked up the screen.

As soon as i picked it up it felt very well made, i threw my 20.1" viewsonic to the side and put down my new base. the way the monitor is put onto the base is by sliding the top on then it clips in the bottom, which was kind of weird to me since my viewsonic came pre assembled.
so after removing the VGA cable that came connected and hooked up DVI, i plugged it in.

i set my resolution, and loaded up World of Warcraft since i knew this game supports 1920x1200. as soon as it was loaded, all i could say was Oh My God! all the pictures i have seen of this monitor do it no justice. i just couldnt believe the real estate i have now.

after 10 min of playing with that i closed it and started changing wallpapers. i loaded up IE and maximized, i could not feckin believe it, im in heaven. i found myself pushing the monitor back further than i had my 20.1" and i was even sitting back further just to see the whole screen! the only thing i have changed in the settings is the brightness with is set to 80% for my liking, other than that all the colors are just beautiful and i dont think they need to be changed at all. the blacks on this screen look like fresh paint and the whites are like a sheet of paper.

The Card reader is just GREAT, i was getting so tired of having one set on my desk that kept falling over and gettin in my way.

The swivel works very well for good access to the back for any reason

this blows my viewsonic out of the water! there is absolutely NO comparison. there is absolutely no dead pixels on my screen, and best of all no screen door effect!
Overall i think this is the best monitor i have ever come into contact with, i dont have a few minor complaints.
1. the screen doesnt go as low as i would like it to, my viewsonic went VERY low to the desk and alowed me to somewhat look down on the screen while having it pointed up at me, but i think i can live with this one.
2. i kind of wish the card reader was on the front bottom bezel for easier access, but again something i can live with.
3. the PiP and PbP is pretty much useless to me. in PiP mode it seems to always cover up something that i need to see, what i wish would have been added is to move the PiP exactly where you want it. there are only 4 positions as usual, top-left, top-right,
bottom-left, and bottom-right. but if there was a function to move the picture up like 20 pixels or to the left etc, that would be awesome, so i can put it exactly where i want it without it coving up a crucial area. also i have found that PbP is ok if u want to watch a movie and tv at the same time, but for using 2 pcs, or 1 pc and a tv its not worthy by any means, it looks good for tv, but lacks alot of quality on the pc side, which is understandable due to it being an lcd and all, but personally i wouldnt have complained if this lcd didnt even come with that feature.
anyways, i hope this helps any of you out there that are thinking about purchasing a 2405, even at the retail price of $1199 US i think this monitor is well worth it. i ended up paying $999+tax and free shipping for mine and i would willingly do it again, even after hearing other people getting them for cheaper. this is well worth the money!
