Delayed 45nm Intel Processors

Hi I work for a huge IT distributor, and I have some bad news. No 45nm processors untill the end of Q2 according to my Intel Product Manager, who was in a meeting last night with Intel... This is quite annoying!

yeah, proof?
His friend of a friend of a friend of a sister's cousin's uncle's dead dog said so! It must be true!

But on a serious note, I'm not really surprised as the demand for the Wolfdales seems to pretty much eclipse what they are sending out.

This sucks because I was planning on nabbing up an E8400 at the end of May/beginning of June.

Oh well, if they don't have them out when I'm ready to buy, a Q6600 it is... *sigh*

Believe or dont believe, its not like im gaining anything out of it. Just wait and see. But I guess you have reason not believe me as this is my first day here. But as I said, why would I lie - not doing anything for me - I was actually waiting for the Q9450.

Because these same delay rumor were being spread around in early January and they proved to be wrong as well.

Ok Sorry, Just thought I'd let you know. Forget it. I actually joined to fined out about Foxconn boards and I received the e-mail. anyways - enjoy your pessimistic day!

You're the one spreading doom and gloom rumors, and we're pessimistic? lol

Your right, I'm just pissed because I bought everything else, and I was just waiting for the processor. It always the same story.

Woah guys, I understand that this is turning into a heated discussion. DeathMachine, I can see why ryan_975 and/or others may not believe as it would be considerate to at least post a little proof, perhaps that email? You can even hide your manager's name, but wouldn't it be cool to post your company? It's not like you are going to get stalkers/predators or the FBI on you ^^ Nothing wrong with it, unless you were a former employee of a company we all hate! j/k :D

I can say I work for a department store as a retail associate, but I don't have any proof to show unless I'm an established member here with some references ^^

Again, this isn't to offend you, but it would be nice to post something other than a "he said, she said" sort of thing.

Just like in January when Intel at the last minute decided to let us know that the processors were going to be on time. And damn it they did it back with Conroe too.

Dude, you don't seriously believe this guy do you?

I certainly hope he's full of it (no offense to the OP). I had my heart set on a Penryn this summer, and it really doesn't make sense to get anything else, even upgrading my existing AM2 setup to a 6400 is pointless when I just bought a 5400 at the beginning of February. I don't want an "underperforming" space heater in my case. At least my 5400 is on par with a E6400 in most cases, and throws out half the heat of the 6400 doing it.

Unless something is seriously FUBAR (the 1.13GHz P3 Coppermine comes to mind...) I have my doubts TBH.

How about some proof, DM? (like posting the original e-mail about the delay?)

I work for Axiz and and the e-mail goes as follows - btw - not supposed to have even said anything -

As you should be aware we have been making some noise on the launch of the 45nm Wolfdale (E8xxx) and Yorkfield (Q9xxx) CPU`s

Unfortunately the supply has been an issue since launch date.

We have not been receiving nearly enough inventory to fulfill the demand.

E-Mail :

I am attending an Intel conference and have just been informed of the following:

45nm inventory ramp up on desktop CPU`s can only be expected during the end of Q2. Expect constraints until the end of Q2.
65nm will continue during this time and will be run rate until Q3. Please focus on these sku`s as we have allot of inventory.
We are not expecting any price moves on the E6xxx CPU`s
Q6600/6700 will be available until Q4 2008. Expect price moves on these processors later this year.
Server (XEON) 45nm sku`s are available – Please speak to Ketan and Jim
HP and Acer mobile 45nm solutions will be in stock shortly. Also look out for Quad Core options on mobile soon - Please speak to the mobile teams for more info.

"Expect Constraints until Q2"

Where does that supposed e-mail say no Q1 shipping in limited supply. We have already seen some 8400's so we all know 45nm are limited and coming.

It doesn't sound as bad as the first post makes out - constraint would imply that there is limited supply, not no supply. And constraint for a major distributor could mean 200,000 per month instead of 300,000 - it's all relative. "Expect price moves" on Q6600s later this year - man, how low can they go with those things - isn't $200 low enough?

I was just reading this morning that Intel had shipped over 4 million 45nm processors so far.

Constraint just means demand (orders) outstrips production.
