Ok, my situation is this. I have a HTPC case (Silverstone). I have about 134mm height room for a heatsink. 2x80mm rear exhaust fans. 2x5.25 drive bays.

I had a dual core at 3.2ghz. The AC Freezer 7 Pro worked great for it. I'm running a Q6600 now though and at 1.3v, it's idling at 55c avg and 65c load. I want to push it to 3ghz which means about 1.4v and about 65-70c load. That's too warm for me.

So, now I need a new heatsink and the best thing I could come up with is the Scythe Ninja Mini. I have no idea if it's going to bring the temps down to acceptable levels though. I would hate to buy it and then it not be much better. I want to get temps at 1.4v to about 60c max.

I was also thinking about a custom watercooling kit. I was thinking about a drive bay reservoir. I loose one of my SATA DVD writers but, I can get by with just one I guess. I was looking at a swiftech pump and waterblock. I would then use a single 80mm fan radiator that's double the width of normal ones. I would go from reservoir to radiator to block to pump to reservoir.

The WC kit would come to about $150 or so. I kind of don't want to deal with the hassle of WCing but, if that's what it takes...

Would it be better to just go for broke on the WC kit or, do you think the Scythe would do the job?

Ambient temps are about 26c. MB temp says 43c but I am not sure what case temps are.

I have a side fan that also blows onto the side of the HS, on top of the HS's own fan. The side fan is about 10mm from the HS.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
