Sapphire x1900xt... sadly the VF900 I installed cools better than stock as long as voltages stay stock or below, any higher than stock the temps just never stop rising.

Anyways at stock volts for core and a slight bump for memory I was able to OC to 685/796, is this pretty decent?

The stock cooler at 100% can allow me to max voltage at 1.6V, but then it sounds like a 747, with voltages that high I can hit 715/825.
 
Perhaps your install was flawed. Take it off and try again. What have you got to lose?
 
I can feel the vf900 getting really warm so I don't think there is a problem with heat transfer... maybe the card just runs really hot. My stock ATi hsf temps seemed much higher than what reviews get.

Firingsquad gets 69C load with stock cooler @dynamic fan while I was getting around 85C.

Load temps@100% fan speed were a bit closer they got 65C and I got 72C. but with the zalman they get 60C while I get 66C.

I think I'm happy with my current OC, I mean technically I can oc higher with the stock cooler going at 100% and 1.575V but then I wouldn't be able to hear anything in the game.
 
Well my sapphire x1900xt is a little wierd.

689Mhz is my max core according to ATI Tool on stock voltage, I assume it is correct since 682Mhz ran a 3dmark06 test.

Memory is a different story... Stock voltages ATI Tool gets as high as 823Mhz before artifacting, but 3dmark06 locks up at anything higher than 775Mhz.

So I just run 662/765 clocks.

I hit 65C-66C underload, the fan spins at 77% for anything above 65C, and it seems to be doing a good job keeping it there (though it is loud, but I'm used to it now)
