I've got an Altec Lansing 5100 system, never had a lick of trouble with it in 2 years. Today I boot up and press the power button on the remote and nothing....deader than a doornail. Checked all the wires, tried different outlets, even kicked the sub a couple times and still nothing. Any idea as to what specific part may have bit the dust that I could replace or have fixed?

I recommend you open up the amp (in computer system sets, that's usually located in the sub) and then check your fuse. I've gotten a few sets of free speakers because people didn't realize that their fuse blew.

If it's not your fuse, then honestly the cost of repair on most sets of speakers like that aren't worth the time, in which case I would recommend you get something else.
 
Took it apart...had the fuse checked by someone more knowledgeable than myself...nothing wrong with it....still dead.
 
Is it just me or is it insanely stupid to quote the first post when you post the first reply? Who else's post would you be replying to?
 
Stupid, but not insanely stupid. Insanely stupid is thinking that we'll promote democracy in a country by sending in armed forces.
