I have some PC2700 DDR (333) I'm replacing and wanted to know if I can use that in my older ASUS A7V-266-E Motherboard, which only supports PC2100 (266). I know it will download clock it, but voltage wise will there be any problems. And also, do I need to use only the 2700 ram and not mix it with the 2100?

Thanks!

Since PC2100 is the fastest the board can run, you should have no problems mixing the PC2100 and PC2700, as they will run at the same speed (PC2100). And no, voltage will not be a problem.

usually the highest ram rating is for the fsb of the processor to be 1:1

Meaning your board supports up to a 266mhz fsb correct??

2100 runs 1:1 and thats what they say to use

BUt downclocking isnt an issue

Now if you were to say:

"My mobo is says it can take ddr2100 and i have 4TB of pc133 around but I just cant find a way to put the PC133 in with the ddr2100....then we have a problem"
