DD TDX question

So I took advantage of dangerdens closeout sale and ordered two TDX blocks for my dual opteron server since it's damn loud. Now the thing is I ordered the normal copper TDX but what I got seems to be either silver or nickle plated. Did DD ever make a nickle-plated TDX or are these really the silver TDX waterblocks?

I got the same thing, I was a little surprised. I am about 95% sure it is nickel plated copper. I was also a little disappointed as these don't have half as many pins as the copper one shown in the photo.

Not to thread hijack but I also had one question, How good are the TDX blocks compared to some other blocks that are currently recommended.

Make that two what do the Accelerator Nozzles for this block do exactly?

Well I don't know if it's nickle but they are plated copper TDX blocks .I took a razor to the outside of one of the the water block and I can see copper under the small scratch

It is Nickel plated Copper, as you guessed..They should work pretty well, even on modern cpus overclocked..I used one on a 1366 build cooling a quad with HT @ 4.2Ghz which ran 24/7 Folding and it did the job just fine..

The nozzles are designed to increase the water velocity through the pins, which would be the most restrictive part of the block, but also where the heat is..

OK why does this block have so few pins, or is it just me? The copper looks like it has a lot more, will the fewer pins affect performance? Do different plating's affect performance?

Also, should I get the accelerator blocks? Do they do anything? They were supposed to be included in my order but never came.

Are you confusing it with the MC-TDX? Which has a different internal setup for the block

Yep your right, thats what I was thinking of. The cached google page for this one still shows a lot different internal block patternHere

Thanks for clearing that up and letting me take over your thread.

Anyone for Do different plating's affect performance?

i never ran them on my old TDX that cooled an Athlon XP. You'll be fine without them.

So you think I should skip the accelerator nozzles? Do they offer any real world performance?
