Hey guys

I have a question.

I have 2 computers and have one printer (HP 710C). There is no LAN.

I want both computers to print.

What kind of data switch do i need?

Please give urls/photos.

Thanks.

Sorry for the vague response; tired. Look into getting a router or hub, then use the Windows Print Sharing. D-Link is a good brand so look at their website. ( http://www.d-link.com )

A router or a hub is unnecessary. Is the printer usb or parallel? Only data printer switches I know of are parallel. There are auto switches and there are manual switches. Other than that, they are pretty much all the same. Just search for printer switch and you'll find what you need.

jpmkm - Do a little research first, before posting. The 710C is a Parallel Port printer only. They do make USB - A/B manual switch boxes.

You are better off getting something like this. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=33-127-002&depa=0

This will give you internet sharing, PC to PC transfers, and also a print server. All for $56.00 US.

You could also get this http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=33-315-008&depa=0

But I don't know the company, but it is only $40.00 so you would save $16.00

A manual DB-25 2way A/B switch box, that connects 2 PC's to 1 Printer would be about $20.00 to $30.00 dollars after you get the box, and two cables. You would only get one function not three, and you would only be paying $10.00 to $20.00 dollars less. If you are still insistant here is the first google.com link.

http://www.cablesnmor.com/data-switch-box.html (Follow the links inside, for the DB25 Male to DB25 Male cables (7.00+4.00+4.00+6.00shipping is $21.00) and its not newegg.com

There you have it, a complete answer. ;)

Cheers,

Yes master. I don't have time(nor do I care) to research for each post I make; I just post from what I know.
