Which is the best data recovery software? Im trying to recover old text files from a hard drive that has been formatted about 3 or 4 times

Get data back?

Chances of getting the data back from a drive that's been formatted 3-4 times with data being written to it between those formats is slim to none. You can try Get Data Back or EZ Recovery which is made by OnTrack. We've even sent out drives that have been overwritten once to places like Drivesavers and Seagate's data recovery department and they couldn't even get anything back.

It doesn't matter how many time it has been formatted.
It only does matter if it was overwritten.
I know some data recovery software like TestDisk, Recuva and Wondershare Data Recovery.

I use GetDataBack for NTFS, has worked well for me several times.

Think i don't like about Recuva is the director structure it uses is a mess, but it is Free

Agreed. You will not get the data back from any software if it has been overwritten. If any of these 4 formats were a full format the OP is out of luck. If all 4 formats were quick formats there is a chance that some of the data is recoverable as long as it was not overwritten by other data. Hopefully the drive was not used much after the first quick format.

Yes, If the data mean so much to me, I will pay for itl.
Anyway, you can try it before pay for it.
You don't have to pay unless you see the file.

:D btw, GetDataBack for NTFS seems great.

QFT, and 100% true, couldn't have said it better myself.

And welcome to the [H]ardForum, btw...

There are so many data recovery services you can found through browsing the net but Kernel Data recovery services are the BEST, the software "Kernel for FAT and NTFS" is the best data recovery software in it's category and it preview you your data after scanning your hdd drive and give you the platform to select the selective files which you want to recover.
