I have a SyncMaster 912n lcd about 2 months old

Today I found that the moniter was totally dim (I thought it was off) I turned up brightness all the way, but it was still maybe 1/3 as bright as normal, i think the backlight is on lowered power.
The control box from the buttons on the monitor is normal brightness, so I don't think it is hardware. When I unplug the monitor from the computer I can see the backlight turn on to full power, but once plugged in I lose power. I tried the monitor on another computer and got the same thing, so it isn't software. I also tried another cable, and found the same results.
