DangerDen Maze5

interesting design.....
I am curious about the concentric rings. does the coolant just flow across the top of the rings? In the previous design the coolant flowed through the channels that were open at either end where as these channels seem shallower but closed at both ends. Can someone get some pic of the inside of the top? those are curiously omitted on the DD site.

I imagine the top is the same as the Maze4, but I guess DD figured that with a larger surface area with their channels, pumps today can keep up well enough.

Just what we need for the 8800GTX!

Nowhere did I see that it would be compatable with the 8800's

Maybe it will be, but I didn't see it, just says the nvid 7 series.

yeah, but the 8800's use the same mounting pattern.

We just need to do something with that extra RAMDAC on the board.

Somewhere I remember seeing a pic of the top, and it was the same top as a Maze4, which means the coolant will enter from above the rings, flow through them (going under the baffle in the top) then go back up from the ring and out the block.

Talk about stagnant flow zones. This new design is simply one massive flow-trap. Surface area is nothing when you're significantly impeding the flow of coolant without a significant purpose (i.e., increasing coolant velocity, reducing the boundary layer, increasing turbulence).

However, it does look like this is about the cheapest baseplate they could possibly produce, while still looking impressive. $43 for a $12 block? No thanks.
