Sorry for the dramatic title :)

I recently decided to reformat my HDD and reinstall Windows as it was getting a bit bloated. To my horror though when all the drivers were reinstalled my Mic was not working with no real explanation as to why. I use this a fair bit for gaming and I wanted to start making some fun youtube videos.

I tend to be good at troubleshooting but this really has me stumped.

I have the ASUS Xonar DG sound card, and the mic is a simple Zalman. It was perfectly functional before, so maybe it is a driver issue - yet reinstalling drivers does nothing. I have tried to set every combination of default device etc but no avail.

Has anybody been able to overcome any similar issues? This is a wee bit frustrating. At least if I knew the problem I could find a solution but I have no idea at this stage.

I went into the audio center and for some reason it is now working. I think my problem - for others in similar positions - I enabled mic but also hadn't disabled line-in. Disabling line-in fixed the issue.

Cheers. Not sure why it worked suddenly so easily after I posted here but sods law I suppose :)
