.....for making folding so addicting!!!! i been trying not to game on my 955be rig so as to keep my PPD higher yet its hard to brake 4k PPD... ts time like this when i wish i wasn't newly married and broke because il be running and i7rig if not:(

One day we shall find the disease that causes the addiction to fold!

By any chance, do you plan on overclocking your processor? My PII 965 BE was producing about 7k ppd back when I was using it to fold and I had it clocked at 3.5ghz which is just a mild overclock. You may be able to run as high as 3.5ghz on the stock cooling so long as your ambient temperatures are reasonable, although I have to warn you that it will get very, very, LOUD once that fan spins upto 7000rpms.

With a decent aftermarket performance cooler, I know of plenty of 955 owners who are at 3.8-3.85ghz or so.

Fold with you have, it's all we can do.

I would make sure you enter all the contests though ;)

just a note if your using windows 7 make sure you have the sidebar disabled.. for some reason it seems to effect AMD processors.. not sure why but i went from 3800 PPD to 5500 PPD on my 940 @ 3.4ghz just by turning it off..

its at 4ghz. some days it pulls 7kppd others 2k others 4-5k idk why it vears so much...

I wonder whether there is something in the background that is eating up cpu cycles. It may also depend on what you are doing. On both of my folding rigs, I have anything not necessary disabled. I have windows update turned off and I have disabled automatic scanning for Windows Defender. If you are not really doing anything, a PII at 4ghz should be doing far greater production. You should be taking hits when you get work units like the 6701/6702 or 6040/6041's, but not enough to take you down to 2k ppd. My gaming rig would average between 7000-8000ppd back when I used it to fold.

Maybe it's just the WU combined with whatever else is running at that time? If you're client is working on P670x WUs, that will lower the PPD considerably and if there happens to be something else even if it consumes a minor amount of CPU cycles, every factor together will affect performance. The low PPD WUs are the P670x and P604x among the standard A3 SMP projects.

The addition comes on and quick (as many have already attested to).

Like Brother Kendrak has said, fold with what you can.

I have and old 8800gtx just siting around can you fold on them? All I would need to get is a new psu for my wifes pc(if it would even fit in her case) if I can fold would it be worth it to speed the money on a psu for it? How many ppd could it do?

Yes, you can fold on it. PPD estimations I'm not sure of, perhaps ~4000 PPD with OC? Not 100% certain about that. I'm sure others here can confirm this better for you. Best of luck.

4-5k ppd easy.

Post a WTB in the FS here. See if there is a folder with an extra PSU that can handle that card.

I'm not sure what my 955BE gets, I don't really pay it that much attention. It just works, so I leave it alone. :D I do know that the GTX295 makes hella more points than the SMP client on that machine though.

I can only get mine stable at 3.63 using a combination of FSB and multi. I wanted to do it this way for more memory bandwidth because I only have DDR2. I know someone here has one @ 4GHz, but has DDR3. (maybe more than 1 someone, but 1 that I know of)

Fold On !!!
Fish

If you can get your shaders up to 1800mhz (dont worry about core/memory), then you should be breaking 6KPPD..I was able to put up between 5-6K PPD with an 8800GT and you have more shaders (112sp vs 128sp)..
