D5 Lowest Setting and DCC

Quick question about the D5 - on the lowest setting, is it as quiet as the DCC (9W version)? How much louder is it on the highest or intermediary settings?

I want to replace my noisy growling AquaXtreme 50Z with something as silent as possible, but currently have a 7/16" tubing system, so the DCC would be a pain due to native 3/8" barbs.

My MCP655 on "1" is completely inaudible, to me anyways. I can't compare to a DCC though, never owned one.

The sound it makes on high isn't very loud at all, or annoying. If I turn off all my case fans, I can barely hear my HX520's fan over my pump. I would give a rough estimate of 25dB tops.

On "2" the pump is below 17dba from 1 foot. That is the limit of my decibelmeter.

At "5" the pump hovers around 28dba from 1 foot.

The lowest speed won't necessarily be the "quietest" either. I find it is somewhere right below 3. As you change the speed the pitch and the frequency of the sound varies. You want to find the right speed so that it seems the most quiet to you (if that is your goal).
