Cutting wires?

Are there any wires that I should be aware of that I cannot cut and shorten? I've worked with electronics before in different applications, and I know that some things are adversely affected by making wires shorter/longer. Is there anything in a computer that I have to refrain from shortening? The reason I'm asking is becuase I need to do something with all my excess wires. Not only does it look wretched but it's abviously blocking my airflow pattern.

P4 3.0

fortron 530
sata hdd
zip & dvdrw
plus tons of 80mm and 120mm fans

thanks

Don't mess with IDE cables or USB cables or anything like that, you can cut and shorten power cables, but why not just bundle them up and zip tie them out of the way?

I don't want to bundle because it blocks off airflow. I want as little wire as possible.

What about duct taping them to the otherside of the mobo tray?

Use electrical tape. Duct tape can be conductive, which may turn out reallllllly bad.

since everything is insulated, using duct tape it's that big of a deal, i don't think. i used duct tape to secure all my extra wires, with no problems.

you can pretty much short/lengthen all the wires coming from your PSU safely, anything else I'd probably leave alone

Well, when my new psu finally arrives, I'm going to tear everything apart and just dive in. I'll try tucking behind the mobo tray and all that stuff, but I don't want any clutter anywhere..

We'll see how it turns out.
