Custom Sound system

I'm sitting hear, while my computer is KIA, and I'm using my pda to play music. I've realized my system is quite weak, and want to get something better. I'd rather not spend 300-500CAN on a new set of speakers, there's just no fun in that, but what about custom speakers?

I know its possible to build you're own speakers, but how can I connect them to my computer? Can I make it surround sound, or just two large speakers, high watt, with amp. I'd perfer to only spend 100-200 and I want to use this for music from my computer, and in the future my tv/dvd player.

Any info on where to start, or what too look for? Thanks.

You can certainly DIY some speakers, but you'll need an amplifier also, so I really doubt that you could do it for your stated budget. Most speaker kits are 100-300 USD, so you also have the exchange rate and shipping to add in also.

Your budget isn't going to get you a good DIY system, don't bother.

DIY is weird in that it is very value oriented, but you have to spend some money upfront. If you dont' have at least $500 US, I'd say don't bother, just get some logitechs and be happy.
