Custom resolutions for ATi Drivers?

Hey guys, I'm really stumped on this one. I'm used to modifying nVidia drivers and ATi ones are, well, lacking and a bit difficult to use but I'm trying :D. The current problem is getting custom LCD resolutions for a laptop since the ATi drivers that have been installed don't support the resolution I need (1680x1050). Any way to modify the drivers via registry/program/files? Thanks for any help on this, 1024x768 looks like hell because the text has to be blurred  :p.

i'd like to know about this one. I only get 1680x1050 out of the omegadrivers. Otherwise I'm stuck at 1600x1200 or 1900x1080 or 1900x1200. None of which is what I want to run my games at =P

You can always use the omegadrivers, they have those resolutions. http://omegadrivers.net

i don't think powerstrip is what i want. I just want the ability to select 1680x1050 in my games. I'm sure its a driver hack thats needed.

Tha games might not show a particular resolution unless it is in the driver list ..... the new Powerstrip is supposed to allow creation of custom modes on the X1900 series too. (See other thread in forum).

So give it a try, nothing to lose unless you make some silly mode. :)

Well, I got my new 7800GTX, so I'm not using the X600 anymore. I never actually found a fix, but best of luck to you guys

No luck needed. Worse case wait for Omega's modified 6.2's. :p

I kind of chuckled when i saw this because someone posted the powerstrip info not long ago. Can't wait to try the new powerstrip. Nvidia drivers are definitely better though IMHO. 300 megs of ATi fluff and I'll still be needing ATiTool and powerstrip as well.
