I want to connect a small portable hand radio to my comp. It has a port for headphones. The jack is small and resembles the jack on my soundcard. Can I splice two old headphone wires together to attach the radio. I'm too cheap to buy a cable. Is there a tutorial somewhere for this?

I would think you could do that. But the hardest thing is going to be finding the same polarity from each set of headphone cables and matching them up in your splice. I would test your spliced cable before soldering the connection or making it permanent to see if your sound is correct. My headphone cables have the polarity marked on the jacket, so check that, too. That would be ideal... Maybe polarity is the wrong term here.... Right and left are probably more appropriate now that I think it through. Try it out!
