I'm looking for a new PSU to replace my Thermaltake 560W Silent PSU. What I'm looking for is a powerful (I overclock alot), efficient, quiet (less than 25dB) PSU that has tight rails & is modular. Ice Czar helped a little, but I'm not willing to do any mods myself, as I know I'm not the best guy to do the best stuff. Price is no object.

I ran the Japanese wattage calculator & came up with 375W, BTW.

Again:

1. High Power (running SLI)
2. Efficient (tight rails)
3. Quiet!
4. Modular.

I'm more than willing to get a custom PSU built from a company that can meet this. Anyone have any suggestions?

(I've found alot of PSU's that meet 1 or 2 but none so far that meet all 4, any help is appreciated)

EDIT: The only mod I'm willing to do myself is to replace the fan. If you guys have suggestions for the fan as well, please do so.

PC Power & Cooling will most likely do this for you. They are probably your best option anyway, but it's going to cost a lot--like $500+.

Im drawing a blank here
but there is a retailer\VAR\customization house that modularizes the PCP&C
something like performancepc sorry I cant recall exactly (I havent had my caffine yet this AM)
but its not a panel mount
harness comes out a inch or two and terminates with a female molex connector so you can plug in various strands

but I don't like the way they do the detachable power cables. They do, however, do PCP&C supplies.

have to agree with.
For an extra $60 you'd think they'd do more than just lop off the cables and let them hang out 6 inches.

You can get more professional looking modular kit and sleevings over at FrozenCPU for $35.

anyway:

Since you added that, I'd go for the NeoPower 480 and swap in some low noise fans.
SilenPC Review
480W, 16A for the 12V1 rail should be enough for even 6800 U in SLI (providing you don't have to ungodly much other stuff in there, budget 10A for those).
efficiancy is pretty good at typical - high load (though weak on the low end)
Add some low 30ish dba fans, and the voltage control should keep them quiet. You'll want to be sure of decent case airflow though.
modular obviously

thanx xonik ;)
the critical lack of an "s"
was enough to defeat my halfassed pre-caffine search qeuries :p

OMG! That was an option I never thought of. The problem with using PCP&C is that the mesh can't be messed with or you'll overheat the heatsinks. So, these guys keep that the same, but just cut the cables short (where they come out of the PSU)?

It wouldn't be like the Antec (which, honestly, is quieter & more elegant in it's design), but that is something I am willing to deal with.

Huh. IF I got the 510, though, what fan could I use to make it quiet?

The Antec is nice, though, I just didn't think it was as good as the 510 in quality. hmmmmmmmm
