This is my prototype case for my watercooling project. I need all the feedback I can get guys so PLEASE give me any ideas you have!

EDIT: This is just an cardboard mockup, I'd rather spend 15 bux and find it is to high, low, fat etc than 80 on acrylic and find out the hard way. /EDIT

This case will be made out of 1/4" mirrored acrylic. You cant see that there's a 120mm blowhole on the top of the case. Not done yet is a 120mm blowhole right under where a traditional powersupply would go.

In this view you can see the 2x120mm fans on the front as well as the 2 5.25 Drive Bays. I know thats not very many drive bays but that's 1 more than I need. :)

In this view you can see the right side of the case, this is where i plan to put all my cables (by drilling through the acrylic) as well as where I'm going to place the fill hose for the watercooling. A lot of the tubing will be placed back here to keep things NICE AND TIDY.

In this view you can see the false bottom of the case. I'm planning on putting the power supply where the hard drive cage goes in traditional cases. The hard drive cables will go down into this hidden "compartment" and will run to the right side of the case in the previous picture.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The radiator will go up top and after a few weeks i plan on putting another radiator where the 120mm fan goes in a traditional case (under the powersupply) for a dual radiator setup.

Does anyone know if two L30 pumps will be needed for a dual radiator setup w/ a CPU, VGA, and Northbridge waterblock setup?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated guys.

2 120mm intake fans? Seems like a bit of overkill.

I don't like the idea of hiding hard drives down inside your little secret compartment either, not only because of heat buildup issues, but also because hard drives are sexsi and should be visible :p

As far as the location for your power supply, keep in mind that a power wire will be connected to it. If you have it in the front, the power cable will be sticking straight out the front of your rig, which will probably unsightly (fugly).

I don't care for the offset drivebay idea either... but that's more of an opinion than feedback. Good luck with it :)

The harddrives will not be hidden at all they will be where the normally go, right below the lowermost 5.25 drive bay. As for the overkill, the two fans will be cooling two SATA 10k rpm Raptors and one 120 GB Hd, silently i might add. The lower fan will be cooling the powersupply.

The powersupply will be backwards example:

the power cable will be running ---> this way towards the front of the case (and will be wired from inside the powersupply housing and run inside the compartment to the back of the case where i will have a female ac connector just like on the back of the powersupply. So u wont see ANY wires from the powersupply whatsoever.

I love how its offset .... one of the reasons i did it so air can get between them.

Yeah, i dry fitted most of them with the exception of the radiator (made a mockup) and everything fit perfect except ive got to make it about a half an inch thicker so the 2nd rad will fit and not hit the mobo.

Thanx for that link i checked it out and I'm gonna do something like that, thanx for the idea.

that's an excellent layout! I really like the general idea of it.

I love the offset drivebays, not really for the "functionality" of it, but just the pure concept / form / look of it. It just makes your idea look so much more... nice. :)

Also, thank you for the idea of cardboard. For some reason I hadn't thought of this, and am in the process of trying to troubleshoot any possible problems I'm going to have w/ my very simple acrylic case. I'll have to do that.

Would you mind if I possibly leech off your ideas? The false floor I had intended to do already, but probably a false wall instead of floor, or maybe both. But the offset drive bays I'm just loving right now, and am now considering trying to do the same.

good job all around, i can't wait to see the finished product :)

Nice mock-up. I also use cardboard to test things out - don't usually paint it though ;)

Wow amusing.. I never actually did a mod before much less build a case and seeing this prototype is very impressive. The most I would have done is draw it on my computer and complain to myself when it doesnt fit... but this looks almost good enough to be a light weight case:D

wowww that looks likes its gonna be pretty...LOL...and really creative too...LOL... THANX
C'YA ? :-D

If the front of the case was straight, rather than off-set, I would buy it in an instant :p

Love the cable management idea.

looks very nice. are you planning to use fan grills on the front fans? some nice chrome ones would probably look cool.

I love the offset drive bays!

I imagine people dont like the offest drivebays because its different than what they are used to, but thats presicely why you need to do it!

Kudoes to you man for an innovative and complex design that will look totally killer once finished out with CCFL's, LEDs, Fans, and WC rig. Cant wait to see the end result. Dont forget to window your CD-ROM since your gonna do acrylic. Oh wait, you said it would be mirrored, heh, nevermind. :)

Looks like a neat idea!

Keep up the great work. As a proponent of massive cooling, I think the 120 intakes are great. Make sure you have some good blowholes too.

What material are you looking to make it from?

PS> I forgot to mention on that bottom most angled off-set bezzle it would look really cool there is you could get one of those 3.5" VFD displays and put right there so that it was pointing up with the angle of the bezzle.

Edit: I just read my post and yes, English is my 1st language, so I have no excuse. Sorry. :D

Nice:), what about centering the fan holes and drive bays or is that already there

The only problem with centering the 120mm fans is that they will eat into the faux panel where the cables and tubing will go.

Oh and I didnt paint it, i went to wally world and got the board, they ran out of white so i had to use some black. I wanted all white!

Thanx for all the comments guys please keep them coming!

I know you said mirrored acrylic but ya know, you could probably coat your "mock-up" with resin and have a nice case there

I was joking w/ a co-worker and said that i was gonna fiberglass it ... he was like OMG thats a great idea and asked for the mockup when i got done w/ it. Ill post pics if he ever does it (don't expect it to happen tho) :)

hahahahaha
maybe if i found another box in one of the other alleys i could make myself a computer case out of cardboard!
yeah i think that the lcd idea on one of the slants under the 5.25 would be super dooper

How do you plan on joining each peice of plexi togeather for a strong joint?

(no not that kind of joint.... *sheesh*)

The front and top will be made of one piece of plexi heated and then bent to form that shape.
