Hello everyone, a computer I built for my grandmother freezes usually when I insert a disc into the dvd burner drive. What would be the reasons for this and how can I solve this. I don't think it is a virus since she has a 56 k modem and is almost never online, usually just goes on to check her AOL email. Any ideas? THANKS!!

O ya, the computer specs are:

3.06 GHZ Pentium 4
512 MB PC3200 RAM
120 GB Hard drive
DVD Player
DVD Burner
Network card
9200se Video Card
56K Modem
Not sure what else you need to know

how much time it takes while detecting the drives during post?

are you using one ide cable for both dvd drives? check jumper settings for both.

which windows?

did you try to install any ide drvier?

does this happen with every dvd disk? and both drives causing the same freeze?

does the system back to normal when you take the disc out?
