css and bandwidth

i've noticed that the css is declared in the <style> tags in the head of each page served on the [H]f. it's about 5430 bytes worth of text which of course isn't that much but added up over the numerous pages serverd could add up. wouldn't it save enough bandwidth per month to make it worth it to put it in an external css file that a user's browser might cache? i guess there could be problems for people using browsers that can't handle a css <link ...> but i say screw those with older browsers, this is the [H] freakin F. just a thought. :)
 
To be honest, I don't know what browsers do/don't have problems with CSS. I do know that vBulletin has a whole team of developers who are smarter than me, so I presume they had a valid reason for coding it the way they did.

But I will point this out to our resident vBull guru and see if he has any thoughts on the matter. Thanks for your input. :)
 
VB3 can put the css stylesheets as a seperate file if the [H] admins choose to do so. And yes.. it will lower bandwidth, but to be honest, just slightly.

Taking the road less travelled to save a few dollars just isn't worth it, IMO.
