Ive got an ati radeon 9800pro. I recently installed source. The game crashes and I get a message that the videocard was reset because it couldnt be controlled anymore or something like that. it let me save an error file aswell.

Ive installed the newest drivers and still nothing. I'm not convinced that this is a hardware problem. what should I do?
 
it used to happen in other games. But I reinstalled my video driver and they all work fine. I know heart wasnt an issue, but I transplanted everything into a different case. Still the same problem. I think its some sort of driver issue. i'd been getting bluescreens before I installed the new driver. Is there something I can run to do the driver thing? I'd reinstall windows over my current install but Ive got the volume liscence edition and for some reason it wont take my serial. How can I check to see if i'm running volume liscence on my computer? I dont remember whether I installed the normal version or the volume liscence.
 
i reinstalled windows and it still does the same thing. I did the install over my previous install so I didnt lose anything. It says my card stopped responding to graphic commands. I even installed direct x 9 and its still messing up!! I hate this. My computer is supposed to be crazy good.
 
no dont reinstall windows yet. uninstall the 5.12 ati drivers and find a copy of the 4.12 ati drivers. install them and see if you have the same problem.
