CS and monitors

I play CS a lot, and I'm buying a new monitor for my new rig. Is 21" too big? (as in they hurt your game because you cant see the whole screen at once) I can get good deals on grade-a refurbs of both 19" and 21" trinitrons, but I want to make sure that I won't regret my choice.

If you sit really close to your monitor 21" could be a problem. But if you're not that close (most normal viewing distances) I doubt it would be a problem.

I'd think it would be fine, as long as you don't sit 6 inchs from the screen. :p

it'll work fine.

I've gamed on 20" LCDs for almost 2 years...I've never had a problem.

OMFG.
21" of monitor for 800x600?
what a fucking waste.

That's pretty lame. I haven't played CS in ages, but most games don't shrink things when you raise the res, they just become more defined and in sniping boards on some games running at a higher resolution may mean the difference between seeing the enemy in the distance or not.

With cs the xhair is real small at higher res. You still see everything, but it feels nicer at 800x600 (if you'd been playing since betas like I have been, and there was nothing but 800x600 at which you could get at a decent framerate, you'd know what I meant).

21 inch is the greatest. Hands down.

I never understood that one...granted, I'm only a slightly better than average player but I did try at 800x600 and 1600x1200 and I performed the same if not worse at 800x600 since I couldn't aim at people as well as they moved into the distance.
