Hey guys, I was thinking of getting this CrystalFontz

But before I do I want to know exactly WHAT I can do with it, I'm planning on having it display both my HDD temp, and my CPU temp? Possible? If so, what will I need to be able to do it?

Thanks in advance

That's a 3x price difference!
Anyway, I will be mounting in on my Side Panel of the case. I don't want it in my bays.

Other then having to be very careful. You'll just have to work out the serial connection unless you go with the next model up that supports USB. The software should do the rest for you. I would contact them and make sure it supports your motherboard for monitor since they don't say how it takes temps wether it's got it's own probes for if it uses onboard sensors. I'm thinking it's going to use and onboard sensor as that is what most use. But from what I can tell it can only do Motherboard and CPU temps I don't belive this will provide HDD temps unless it uses a independent probe for temp sensors.

MB and CPU temps are fine with me.

What did you mean I had to be carefull? Carefull mounting it on the side panel?

it depends on the software you use. he should use LCDSmartie, its FREE and displays any info youd like.

get the crystalfontz, power it with LCDSmartie (I can help you if you need it, PM me if you do), and save the assload of cash. I really recommend getting a 2x20 as 2x16 always seemed a little too small for my taste

Crystal Fontz also has it's own display software, Crystal Control that's pretty cool. The next version sounds like it will be very powerful as well.
