Hi. I've tried searching but nothing specific came up. So apologies if I missed it.
I'm at my mom's for vacation. I'm online and I notice that the monitor (Samtron 78DF) all of a sudden flickers, displaying two very distinct and sharp lines horizontally across the top of the screen. Wow I don't know what that was but it wasn't supposed to happen I'm guessing. Then I notice the text is blurring slightly...more and then less....on and off seemingly at random times. It's a slight blur, but the entire screen is blurred, even when there's the NO SIGNAL box without a video input connected. As I sit here working, the monitor will show those horizontal bursts in random places. Also, the text will fuzz out then in, then focus, then unfocus.
Should I venture into its guts and look for convergence wheels or a focus/sharpness knob? It was bought about 14 months ago and really shouldn't be doing this. It's plugged into a surge protector/battery UPS. I switched it to the wall to see if that made any difference but it hasn't. Shutting the monitor off and on has no effect either. Degaussing doesn't help.
Any thoughts?? This is bothering me and they really don't want to spend money on a new one. Thanks.
